Training

So I am back to training full time now. 2 - 2.5 hours a day at the gym to get ready for my next adventure. I'm preparing for a 3 day mountaineering trip in the Sierra which, if all goes well, will be Jan. 5th-7th. I need to get some "hands on" time climbing ice and working with snow/rope gear so I can have a better understanding of what tools I would need and/or prefer.

The high altitude coupled with the intense workout mean I have to be in great cardiovascular shape. To measure this I have to administer myself the Harvard Step Test.
I'm looking for a score >90 to feel comfortable. I tried to do it tonight but my heart rate was artificially high because I drank a Monster about 1 hour before hand, not knowing I would be doing the test later. I will try It again this week and post my results.
