Last Supper

So my last day of productive work has arrived. I have filled out the paperwork, signed the releases, indicated my next of kin, and submitted the request for operation:

I can't really even read what I signed up for there. Left shoulder scope, some kind of cuff surgery, labral surgery, oh and that last part there, that says "possible open". I asked what that means and was informed that if he can not reach everything he needs to get to with the scopes, then he will go old school on me and cut my shoulder open through my deltoid and other muscles. I am admittedly a little worried about this because from what I understand people don't recover from that type of surgery.
On a lighter note, when I wake up from the general anesthesia, I will be asked to describe my comfort level using the following complex scale for post operative pain diagnosis:

I'm not sure what you guys think but I'm pretty sure the "mild pain" guy has to be a masochist because he looks pretty damn happy for someone in pain. I am also a little put off by only six pain faces to describe ten levels of pain. Currently I operate between 4 and 6 on this scale, depending on how much whiskey is brought into the equation.
More news as events warrant, its 10:03am and Kaiser still hasn't even let me know what time I go in tomorrow. Sheesh.

  1. How long do you think that one can tolerate intolerable pain? It has to be the pain you feel right before death, right?

    Good luck with everything.
