I pretty much had to guess how to make this, but it came out perfectly as you can see modeled by my lovely assistant. Next outing should be coming up soon (next couple weeks) I'm thinking Desolation Valley.

Home Made Rain Guard
Have a couple yards of rip-stop nylon, elastic, needle, thread, and an hour to waste? You too can make your own rain guard to slip over your hiking pack for snow/rain conditions!

Doctor's orders

The doc wanted me to stretch my shoulder a little. So I took a snow shoe trip out above Tahoe. You can see the lake On the left, and the Southern View from the Summit below. Google Earth lists the summit @ 10,011 feet. There was no designated trail, in fact I parked the car on the side of the road, put on the snow shoes and just started walking. Hiking up steep face covered in snow proved to be difficult but manageable. When i reached the top I rested and took in the views for about an hour and then it was back down to beat the dark. All in all, I think I will go again.
