Last Supper
Image removed
I can't really even read what I signed up for there. Left shoulder scope, some kind of cuff surgery, labral surgery, oh and that last part there, that says "possible open". I asked what that means and was informed that if he can not reach everything he needs to get to with the scopes, then he will go old school on me and cut my shoulder open through my deltoid and other muscles. I am admittedly a little worried about this because from what I understand people don't recover from that type of surgery.
On a lighter note, when I wake up from the general anesthesia, I will be asked to describe my comfort level using the following complex scale for post operative pain diagnosis:
I'm not sure what you guys think but I'm pretty sure the "mild pain" guy has to be a masochist because he looks pretty damn happy for someone in pain. I am also a little put off by only six pain faces to describe ten levels of pain. Currently I operate between 4 and 6 on this scale, depending on how much whiskey is brought into the equation.
More news as events warrant, its 10:03am and Kaiser still hasn't even let me know what time I go in tomorrow. Sheesh.

It's Official! Thompology is International!

From San Diego, to Portland, to Dallas, to New York, Thompology has just broken out of the US! Keep spreading the word! The more hits I can generate the more posting I will do. Make sure you leave comments and keep the voice messages coming. I think I am going to start posting the good ones on the site so we can all have a laugh. Thank you to everyone so far! Stay tuned for surgery posts and mad ramblings from my drugged mind post-op!

BINGO!
Prior to tonight I had always envisioned bingo to be a game for retirees and grandparents, if not great-grandparents. Now after penetrating the vale of secrecy surrounding the bingo world, I can add crank addicts and and housewives to that list.
I accepted the invitation to accompany two fine ladies to an evening of bingo out of curiosity of what indeed happens at these events, and who it is exactly that attends them. What I found was quite disturbing.
FAST PACED BINGO ACTION:
NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART!
I was able to escape with this undercover footage of the game in full swing. I barely made it out just before... nothing happened, ever.
I don't understand the draw of the game. You sit and hunt for numbers on sheets of paper as fast as possible so that you can finish just in time to hunt for a new number on those same sheets of paper. And then as you sit "dobbing" (that's Bingarian for making an ink dot) away on your paper, the unwashed 83 year old four seats down uses her last bit of life to pull away her oxygen mask and gasp "bingo" negating all the fine work you had just accomplished.
Studies show, 11 out of 14 Bingarians have the mental fortitude of gym socks.
Feather Falls Hike
I took Monday off to head up outside of Oroville to Feather falls. It is the sixth highest waterfall in the US and well worth the drive/hike it takes to reach it.
Video of the falls from a lookout.
It is hard to tell from the video just how large these falls are. After checking it out from across the canyon I hiked around and climbed down onto the rocks next to the mouth of the falls. The area gave me a bit of vertigo feeling as i inched down to get a close look of the drop.
I would love to go back and pitch the hammock up top near the falls to spend a couple days but that will have to wait a few months until I can get out and about again.

Rocky Mountain High
So i flew out to Colorado for a family birthday, and to see about purchasing a handgun which I can not get in California.
Oh, that reminds me.
Dear California legislature,
I wish you all to choke violently on my mis-appropriated tax dollars.

The gun in question is a Kel Tec PF-9 that the fine folks running the great state of Commiefornia have decided should only be available to criminals and degenerates. The idea that I need a certain type of gun to commit a crime is astoundingly moronic. Not unlike the state enacted "cooling off period" which requires me to wait ten days before picking up my purchased handgun. News flash: If I am angry enough to kill someone, then I can just as well do it with a shotgun or a rifle (no waiting period). Even better, I can pretty much acquire ANY gun illegally use that, and then throw it away and there is no link to me at all. The only people who are restricted by these laws are people who want to abide by them. So here is how you get a gun that is not on the "approved" list for California:
#1 - Hope you have a parent or grandparent living in a state where the gun is legal
#2 - Have them purchase it, gift it to you, and then pay a $19 registration fee for CA
So the message sent here with this BS approved gun list is "These guns are not safe for you to own or carry, unless you have a family member who gave it to you, and then they are just fine." Does that make any sense at all?
The point is moot because after handling several dozen guns, I have decided that I am no longer interested in the PF-9. I'm going to get something with a higher clip capacity so that in the event I do crack up, I can do far more damage.
I hate California law.
